Description

William IV (1830-37), Penny, 1831, bare head right with plain truncation, date below, legend surrounding GULIELMUS IIII DEI GRATIA. Rev, Britannia seated right with trident and shield, incuse line on saltire of shield, reads BRITANNIAR REX FID DEF, exergue containing emblems, (BMC.1455; S.3845). Lightly toned with mint lustre around the periphery, excellent detail in the portrait with legible legends. Rev, Britannia well struck up showing some of the intricacies in the breastplate, small metal flaw or field disturbance to the left of trident handle. Uncirculated, rare so well preserved.
