Victoria, 1862 International Exhibition London – Jurors’ medal, AE medal (76mm.), by L. C. Wyon, after a design by Daniel Maclise, Class VIII [Fire Engines], awarded to W. M. Browne. Britannia seated l., accompanied by figures representing Art, Science and Industry. Rev. Legend and date within oak wreath, edge impressed with recipient’s name. As struck with pristine bronze patina.
W. M. Browne, Superintendent of Westminster Fire Brigade, formerly Secretary of the Westminster Fire Office. The Special Jury for Fire-Engines comprised 15 men including the Earl of Caithness and the Duke of Sutherland.
