The Riseborough Family Group, comprising a Great War Mercantile Marine Officer and a WW2 Royal Navy Officer who was later killed in a Flying Accident:
Father – 2nd Engineer William Riseborough, Mercantile Marine, 1914-1920 British War Medal, (William. Riseborough.), 1914-1918 Mercantile Marine War Medal, (William. Riseborough.) lightly toned, very fine.
Sold with the original paper packets for the British War and Mercantile Marine Medals. And copy Mercantile Marine medals index card with copy photograph.
Son – Lieutenant (E) William Eric Riseborough RN. 1939-45 Star, Atlantic Star, Burma Star, 1939-45 War Medal, unnamed as issued, Condolence/Bestowal slip, (Lieutenant (E) William Eric Riseborough RN), in postal box of issue. Very fine.
Lieutenant William Riseborough was killed whilst still a serving Royal Navy Lieutenant on the 4th June 1948 at:
“Field – King’s Moor Long Sutton”, the cause of death is stated as: “Fracture of the skull and multiple injuries sustained when in a dual controlled aeroplane of which he was one of the pilots crashed to the ground. Verdict Misadventure “.
Sold with copy Death Certificate and copy Obituary page from Navy List for Officer’s whose deaths have been reported since 17th April 1948. Worthy of further research.
