Description
The 1914-15 Star awarded to Quarter Master Lieutenant, later Major, James Woolard 1st General Hospital, Egypt, Royal Army Medical Corps, who had served 18 years in the ranks rising to the rank of Warrant Officer, seeing Service in South Africa in the Boer War and who was Commissioned on the 18th of February 1914, rising to the rank of Major during the Great War serving with the Egyptian Expeditionary Force and whose papers show service in World War Two as well comprising 1914-15 Star, (Q.M.& Lieut. J. Woollard R.A.M.C.), very fine.
James Woollard served in the ranks for 18 years 251 days as a Warrant Officer for 1 year and was Commissioned Honorary Lieutenant on the 18th of February 1914. James has served in South Africa receiving the Queen’s South Africa Medal serving in Cape Colony, Orange River Colony and Transvaal. He also received the King’s South Africa Medal. He served during the Great War with the Egyptian Expeditionary Force from the 13th of March 1915 to the 31st of October 1918. His file at the National Archives (WO339/9515 refers) states that he served from 1888 to 1921 and again in 1946. Worthy of further research.
