Description
Offa, King of Mercia, Portrait Penny, light coinage (780-92), Canterbury type, Winoth, radiate bust right, bottom to edge, beaded inner circle surrounding head, “+offa rex+” rev. pellet in annulet with four pellets surrounding in central compartment of lobe ended cross, Runic moneyer’s name in angles, “winoth” 1.07g. (cf.CEB 44 rev like obv of 40; N.307/282obv; S.905).
Edge slightly crimped below bust, with a clear face and devices, toned a bold very fine and extremely rare.
