Description

A 1889-92 Burma Campaign India General Service Medal awarded to Private later Corporal William Hall 2nd Battalion Devonshire Regiment comprising India General Service Medal 1854-95, one clasp, Burma 1889-92, (2288 Pte W Hall 2d Bn Devon. Reg.) named in running script, very fine.

William Hall joined the Devon Regiment on the 5th of December 1888 an 18 year old Labourer from Nottingham stating that he had served in the 3rd Battalion Lincoln Regiment. He served Home 5th December 1888 to the 30th September 1890, India 1st of October 1890 to the 5th of May 1896, Home 6th of May 1896 to the 19th of October 1899, South Africa 20th of October 1899 to the 14th of June 1900, Home 15th of June 1900 to his Discharge, Time Expired, in Jersey on the 4th of December 1901 after 13 years exactly with the Colours.

His Papers state he served in the Upper Burma Campaign, and South Africa Campaign and was awarded the IGSM with clasp Burma 1889-92 and the South Africa Medal (Tugela Heights, Relief of Ladysmith), the QSA Medal Roll states Invalided 13th of June 1900.
