Description
Henry I (1100-35), Penny, Facing bust/Cross fleury type (c.1117), London mint, moneyer Sigar, bust facing crowned and diademed within inner linear circle, legend surrounds + HERICVS REX AN. Rev, cross fleury with annulet in centre within inner circle, reads +SIGA[–] [ON] [–]ND, 1.31g (S.1271; N.866; BMC X). Toned, standard official incision at 2 o’clock. Weakly struck on obverse, normal for the type, partial legend reading. Rev, far better bold strike with some dishing in the legends between 5 and 9 o’clock, cross fleury motif motif clear. Fine, reverse better.
