Great Britain, Durham, Darlington, Jonathan Backhouse & Company (Bankers) Cheque for £3.12.2d (three pounds, twelve shillings and twopence), dated 1st October 1848, payable to “Charlton” on the account of “H. C. Backhouse” and signed by Edward Backhouse of Ashford, Sunderland (1808-1879, author of “Early Church History and Minister in the Society of Friends), Grey Cathedral to left, engraved by W. H. Lizars of Edinburgh. Cross-cancelled over signature. Ex Brian Kemp collection. Spike-hole and pinholes to left, small tear in lower edge, otherwise good very fine.
