Edward VI (1547-53), Crown, Third period, Fine silver issue [1551-53], 1551, King on horseback right with upright sword, date below, wire line and beaded inner circles surrounding with legend and beaded border initial mark y (Southwark) both sides, legend surrounds EDWΛRD VI DG ΛGL FRΛNC Z HIBER REX. Rev, quartered shield over long cross fourchée, legend reads POSVI DEV AD IVTOREM MEYM, 30.53g (S.2478; N.1933).
Deep tone, some contact marks on the obverse and annealing metal striations on reverse. Good very fine, pleasing overall detail, some fade in the coat of arms, none of the usual edge cracks.
