Edward VI (1547-53), Crown, Fine Silver Issue, 1553, the 3 struck over a 2, King in full armour right with upright sword on horseback, elaborately decorated horse, date below, linear and beaded circles surrounding, mint mark tun [Tower Mint], legend reads EDWARD VI DG AGL FRA Z HIBER REX, E of King’s name over E. Rev, long cross fourchee over quartered shield of arms, circles and legend surrounding, legend surrounds POSVI DEV A DIVTOR E MEV, 30.59g (S.2478; N.1933).
Toned, some light surface marks and nicks, weak in parts, legends all legible with pleasing details in the horse and Kings armour. Bold very fine, the rarest and for these crowns, with a blue-blood provenance.
