Edward the Confessor (1042-66), Penny, Pointed helmet type (1053-56), Canterbury Mint, moneyer Leofstan, King right draped wearing helmet, holding lis headed sceptre, legend surrounds +EDPERD REX. Rev, annulet at centre of cross with tri-crescent ends, reads +LEOFSTΛN ON CENT, 1.11g (S.1179; N.825; BMC VII; SCBI 2 [Hunterian], 1064).

Slate grey cabinet tone with underlying mint bloom, obverse lamination flaw, some soft areas but generally well detailed and comprehensive in both the portrait and the legends. Very fine.
