Description
Charles I (1625-49), Crown, Tower Mint, type 1a, mint mark lis (1625), King on horseback left with raised sword, rev quartered shield of arms on long cross fourchée, 29.84g (FRC IV/II; N.2190; S.2753; Brooker 233).
Weakly struck at top of horseman and corresponding part of reverse, some good detail on horse otherwise, once cleaned, now lightly toned, good fine to near very fine. It is interesting to note that this die often appears in weakly struck condition as per the Cooper dies illustration.
