Description
Charles I (1625-49), Groat, Bridgenorth-on-Severn, mintmark plumelet, crowned bust left, plume before, mark of value behind, legend surrounds CAROLVS DG MAG BR FR ET HIB REX. Rev, Declaration in three lines, scroll and three plumes struck above contained within inner linear circle, date below. Outer legend reads EXVRGAT DEVS DISSIPENTVR INIMICI, 1.84g (S.3042; N.2525; Brooker 1133).
Struck on a large flan, well detailed in the portrait and legends, slightly off centre striking more apparent to the reverse. A flan split at 5 o’clock, noticeably clear fields, good very fine, much eye appeal, scarce.
