Description
A Heavy Brigade Crimea Pair awarded to Private Thomas Jones, 4th (Royal Irish)Dragoon Guards who Probably Rode in the Charge comprising Crimea Medal, three clasps, Balaklava, Inkermann, Sebastopol, (1038 Pte T Jones 4th Dns) rather crude contemporary gothic engraving, Turkish Crimea, Sardinian Issue, (T. Jones,4th Dragoon Guards 1038) contemporary engraved naming in neat block capitals. The first with clipped upper clasp lugs and reaffixed suspension claw, contact marks and bruising, fine.
Thomas Jones was born in Manchester in the county of Lancaster he enlisted into the 4th Dragoon Guards at Manchester on the 19th of February 1850 aged 21 years sating that he was a labourer. He served in the Crimea between October 1854 and June 1856, “Forgotten Heroes – The Charge of The Heavy Brigade” page 196 states that he “Probably Rode in the Charge”, he returned from the Crimea in the Transport Simla. He served for 10 years 199 days. Being Discharged at his own request and on payment of £10.
